Filipino Comedian Rex Navarrete LIVE in Manila for “Rex Reloaded” at the NBC Tent

When In Manila Do Not Miss the Live Comedy of Rex Navarrete at his show called Rex Reloaded at the NBC Tent, BGC November 16th !

REX NAVARRETE RETURNS!

Rex is back! After sold out shows in the Philippines, Rex Navarrete returns for two nights courtesy of Catalyst Revolution. If you missed him the first time you can catch him at “RexNavarrete: Rex Reloaded” at the NBC Tent on Wednesday, November 16 or “Rex Navarrete Live” at the Waterfront Hotel Cebu on Friday, November 25.

The Fil-Am comedian will be serving another dose of his unique take and quirky observations on being Filipino, life in general, and famous personalities—including world-class champ, Manny Pacquiao. Navarrete shot to fame with his hilariously funny animated shorts “Maritess and the Superfriends” and “SBC Packers.” He is the only Fil-Am comedian with four successful audio CDs and three DVDs of his live performances.

Local funnymen Mike Unson and JB Dela Cruz will get the laughter going as the opening acts for both nights. ROFL is guaranteed for everyone!

 Rex Reloaded POSTER1

Rex Navarrete is back in Manila, Philippines on public demand after his roaring success earlier in the year.

Now Rex is back….this time with the punch lines that he couldn’t unpack in the last show! Dont forget that there’s another Manny Pacquiao fight, and Rex Navarrete is watching Manny’s every move with that piercing, loving scrutiny of his— it’s going to be fun  on wednesday to sit back for a mid week doze of derision and reflection. Be sure to hear Rex decode Manny and Jinky and this whole island nation’s collective psyche.

“Manny Pacquiao is WHO WE ARE. He has brought the attention to the Filipino. But I have to make the guy ‘REAL’.  If he can take the punches on his face…he can take some from me.”Rex Navarrete

I heard my friends rave about him after seeing him in the past! Expats in Manila absolutely loved Rex on stage too! Apparently there were so many ‘That’s so true!’ moments during the show that Rex brought his well-known but little understood nation closer to Everyman’s heart — the Pinoys, the ‘Hella-Pinoys, the accented  and sometimes conceited, sometimes targeted Filipino-Americans, and even to expats in the Philippines.

I surfed the net to watch this seasoned stand-up artist at work…and two hours just flew by. This is no slap-stick, pure gold comedy material!

From making fun of Filipino quirks like adding sugar to anything they eat, and over boiling the pasta till it becomes paste…CHECK.

Making fun of the underdog Filipinos overseas…CHECK

Making fun of the lens and laugh at the US worship of the Pinoys…CHECK

Making fun of the serious…CHECK

Are the Opening acts by Mike and JB worth a watch…

Well I met them yesterday and I was so happy that Mike’s humor can finally explain why Filiino men are the way they are….

What do I mean?

Go watch the show :))

Mike’s the one wearing blue. And Rex’s body language says he is hiding a punch there….The dapper dress sense of JB says “Ha ya! Let’s see you wednes-nite.” And I am probably saying—I love human stories that have the courage to Stand-up to a faceless crowd.

JB  Dela Cruz’s urbane magic tricks should be fun also…coz some Filipino clerics have warned him not to do black magic…(joke lang) but this young “I am still Singul” bachelor had this naughty spark in his eye that said—“Its a huge honor to open the show for an icon like Rex, and I am gonna pull every trick  I have out of my hat.”

All three have a passion for Live entertainment. They  are highly attuned to the oddities and strengths of their culture, and to the networked global consciousness. So I am hoping to have a night of serious good mirth.

The crowd was having a blast with Rex and someone asked him who he’d like to see attend his show. Rex mentioned that Manny Pacquiao and the President are always invited, but that he’d really like to see new faces who have never seen him perform before.

And the tickets cater to this enormous range too; from 7000 pesos with back stage pass to 750 pesos. More lasting memories than a bucket of beer worth the same amount.

When In Manila, be sure to get your funny bone ready to explode with laughter as you catch the laughing bug with Rex Navarette! Rex has been known to completely leave crowds gasping for air as they laugh the night away so make sure you’re ready for this night of fun!
