EURO SUMMIT 2014: Probing ASEAN-EU Dynamics
On February 22, UP EURO will hold the annual Philippine Summit on European Studies entitled, ASEAN Integrated Community 2015: Probing ASEAN-EU Dynamics. The event will delve into the implications of the integration on the sectors of politics, economics, and education in the Philippines vis-à-vis its being an ASEAN member and its relationship with the European Union.
With topics on economic integration, the enabling of connectivity and synergies for dynamic development, as well as the capitalization on technical vocational training and human resources, the Summit will particularize on how the establishment of these will ensure inclusive growth and shared prosperity between Southeast Asian nations. Additionally, it will discuss the parallelisms and the basic differences between the ASEAN and the European Union, comprehending what a united ASEAN community entails both in terms of opportunities for, and threats to the Philippines.
With an expected participant count of 200 students from different universities, the 2014 Philippine Summit on European Studies will be held at the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (NISMED) auditorium in the University of the Philippines, Diliman, from nine in the morning to three in the afternoon (9:00AM-3:00PM). ABOUT UP EURO: The Euro-Filipino Understanding and Relations Organization (UP EURO) is a duly recognized university-wide student organization based in the Department of European Languages of the College of Arts and Letters in the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
