Being under lockdown for nearly two years is enough to make anyone go insane… and award-winning Filipino director, Erik Matti, attempts to encapsulate that feeling through a new anthology film that will soon be shown on streaming platform UPSTREAM PH.
Titled “RABID,” this movie features four bizarre yet quirky tales of the pandemic told in different episodes, all of which show us how the world can drive us mad. The four episodes, entitled “HM”, “Kami Lang Ba Pwede Malasin”, “Shit Happens,” and “Iba Pa Rin Ang Karne” take inspiration from the current reality of fear, danger, loss, and uncertainty.
Director Matti also said the film was inspired by what everyone experienced during the pandemic lockdown.
“We almost went crazy on last year’s lockdown. We made this film to capture that feeling of helplessness that bordered on insanity.”
Aside from a concept that hits close to home, “RABID” also features a cast of rising stars and notable theater veterans being given the spotlight on the big screen. Cast members include Ameera Johara, Ayeesha Cervantes, Brace Arquiza, Cheska Diaz, Donna Cariaga, Jake Macapagal, Jay Glorioso, Kent Gonzales, Pam Gonzales, Ricci Rivero, Ube Lola, Vance Larena and Ynigo Delen.
With an intriguing storyline and a fresh cast to bring Erik Matti’s creative vision to life, RABID is surely a film that is worth watching with friends and family.
“RABID” is set to premiere on November 12, 2021, on Upstream PH. Visit Upstream’s social media pages and website www.upstream.ph to learn more about the film. Tickets can also be purchased through Gmovies at bit.ly/UpstreamRabid.
