It’s a whole new world for Will Smith and the cast!
As announced, the 1992 Disney film will have a live adaptation. Last July the cast for the movie was announced after netizens debated and gave suggestions of different actors that could perfectly carry out the roles of the Arabic Disney characters.
Since then, it was confirmed that Mena Massoud will play Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar and Will Smith as the Genie.
Will Smith posted on his official Facebook page the first photo of the cast together! Well, at least, some of them.
“We just started shooting Aladdin and I wanted to intro you guys to our new family… Mena Massoud/Aladdin, Naomi Scott/Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari/Jafar, and I’m over here gettin’ my Genie on. Here we go! “, it captions.
According to Variety, other cast members “include Navid Negahban (“Homeland”) as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad (“Saturday Night Live”) as Dalia, Princess Jasmine’s hand maiden and confidante; Billy Magnussen (“Into the Woods”) as Prince Anders, a potential husband for Princess Jasmine; and Numan Acar (“Homeland”) as Hakim, Jafar’s right-hand man and head of the palace guards.”
As of press time, no date has been released regarding the movie’s premiere.
