The Creator and Cast of “Emily in Paris” Share Their Favorite Outfits in Season 3

We’ve gushed about Lily Collins’ stunning outfits in Emily in Paris in the past and the glorious fashion has continued all the way to Season 3. So, obviously, when we got to interview the creator and cast of Emily in Paris, we simply had to talk about fashion.

Fashion in Emily in Paris Season 3

“I think the styles get even more outrageous this season, especially with Ashley Park,” points out Darren Star, creator of Emily in Paris. Mindy always looks like she’s ready to go to the Met Ball at any given episode but that’s what’s so fun about the show: to watch for the fashion.”

In terms of any favorite outfits, Darren says he has a few and puts what Emily wears in Provence in the spotlight. “I love this lavender outfit that matches the setting,” he gushes.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays French lady boss Sylvie in the show, shares that she doesn’t really have a favorite outfit. “I was in love with every outfit we chose because they’re so right for the character,” she explains. “We have an incredible costume designer. But there’s a dress that Lily wears at a party in Episode 7 or 8. It’s the opening of the Pierre Cadault store and she wears this incredible grey and black outfit – it’s fantastic.”

“I basically covet everything that Philippine wears,” Kate Walsh admits. “I love it. It’s one of my great pleasures: watching what Philippine wears in the show.”

As for herself, Kate shares that she just loves everything that Madeline gets into. “It’s just so her. It’s a character and it’s just ridiculous and kind of over-the-top. It’s fun and it helps me find who she is. That’s the great thing about costumes. For me, the character can come to life then.”

“Of course, there’s this wonderful scene between Sylvie and Madeline where they encounter each other at the costume gala that I think is really fun to watch,” Darren adds. “That’s a great dress,” Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel in the show, agrees. Darren shares that the dress was invented for Pierre Cadault.

Kate shares that it’s actually pretty easy to experience this kind of fashion faux pas in Australia. “Particularly in Western Australia, particularly in Perth, because it’s small,” she points out. She shared that she used to really consciously wear Australian designers and experienced the same thing at a friend’s book launch.

“I was wearing this gorgeous little linen dress and then there was someone wearing the exact [same dress],” she recalls. “And she did look better. Nobody wants that. I’ve seen that happen in L.A., too, at events and you’re like, “Oh, well, that’s a pity.” That wasn’t me that time but that’s gotta sting. It’s not good. No one wants that.”

“I think I would ignore the other person,” Philippine jumps in. “She does not exist.” “Deny, deny, deny,” Kate laughs.
