Providing supplementary radio broadcasting knowledge to students through workshops, seminars, symposia and other related activities, the DZUP Radio Circle (DZUP RC) presents Elevate V: Understanding Biases and Objectivity, a one-day seminar and fora for high school students from all around the Philippines.

Icia De Guzman, the founder of Elevate and now a researcher and a documentary program field producer noted that, “Elevate is an extension of DZUP Radio Circle’s mission – sharing not only radio skills but also responsible journalism skills to future practitioners inside and outside the campus.”

Since its inception in 2013, thousands of aspiring journalists have been invited and taught with basic and advanced skills in news, editorial, and business writing, photojournalism, and of course, radio broadcasting.  Notable media practitioners from different news organizations have also been invited as guest speakers to offer an avenue to promote the core principles of media literacy and to explore and deconstruct the expectations of objectivity in campus journalism.

The proceeds of the event will also support the organization’s annual outreach program for the underprivileged, REV Up: Reach out, Educate and Volunteer.

“Elevate V: Understanding Biases and Objectivity” will take place on September 24, 2016 (Thursday) at the University of the Philippines Integrated School. For further information, contact Chloe Ramirez at 09178163947 or thedzupradiocircle@gmail.
