EJ Obiena Advances to Pole Vault Finals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

There has been a lot to be proud of in terms of our Filipino athletes in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Aside from weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz winning the first-ever Olympic gold medal for the Philippines and boxer Nesthy Petecio assuring a spot on the podium; Filipinos have been showcasing their strengths, dedication, and talents in various sports in the competition.

Today, that was EJ Obiena, who has made it into the men’s pole vault finals by successfully clearing 5.75 meters on his third and final try. The finals will be happening this Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 6:20PM when EJ might just become the first track and field athlete to win an Olympic medal for the Philippines in 85 years.
