DOTr Asks Jeep and Bus Drivers to Operate to Get Incentives During ECQ

DOTr Ask Jeep and Bus Drivers to Operate to Get Incentives During ECQ

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur P. Tugade once again called on public transport drivers to participate in the government’s Service Contracting Program (SCP) to increase their income, and help their needs and livelihoods amidst the pandemic.

According to Secretary Tugade, the Service Contracting Program is a big help to increase the income of PUV drivers because of the incentives they receive from the government.

“Sa ating mga kasamahang drayber, huwag po nating palampasin ang oportunidad. Lumahok ho kayo sa Service Contracting Program ng pamahalaan. Makatutulong ho ito para madagdagan ang inyong kinikita sa araw-araw. Sayang din ho ang dagdag na kita para pambili ng pagkain at pang-suporta sa pamilya. Para sainyo po ito,” ayon kay Secretary Tugade.

The Service Contracting Program of the DOTr and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is one of the programs launched under the ‘Bayanihan to Recover as One Act,’ which aims to provide additional income to public transport drivers, in exchange for their service so as to meet the needs of passengers in the midst of the pandemic. The program also implements so-called “performance-based incentives” to ensure the quality and efficient service of drivers to passengers.

Drivers of modern and traditional jeepneys and public utility buses (PUBs) with active routes can participate in the program.

Jeepney Philippines

Under the SCP, participating jeepney drivers will receive P11 per kilometer as an incentive. Bus drivers will receive P23.10 per kilometer as an incentive. Incentives will be given to participating drivers on a weekly basis through their GCash, PayMaya, or Land Bank accounts.

FREE BOARD FOR APORS

Meanwhile, to assist our essential workers/travelers or Authorized Persons Outside of their Residence (APOR), 44 routes of Modern Jeepneys have been prepared by DOTr and LTFRB to provide *FREE RIDE under Service Contracting Program* while implementing the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) starting yesterday, March 29, 2021 to April 4, 2021, in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

Free ride routes for APORs will be operational from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM

It will be known that the modern jeepney provides free ride if there is a sign on the front of it that reads “FREE RIDE FOR AUTHORIZED PERSONS OUTSIDE RESIDENCE”.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN SERVICE CONTRACTING

Those wishing to participate in the SCP, must present a photocopy of their license and a certificate signed by their operators as proof that they are a PUV driver. They must also submit a photocopy of their operator’s valid ID (front and back) signed three times, a copy of the OR/CR โ€‹โ€‹of the driven jeep, a photocopy of the Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC), and details of the payment account to be used.

The LTFRB continues to accept applications for the program. For those interested in joining the Service Contracting Program, just register at www.servicecontracting.ph
