The Department of Science and Technology’s Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) is calling on Filipinos to celebrate homegrown innovations through its Gawad Alunig x Dalumat (GAxD) campaign. Now in its fourth year, the GAxD campaign seeks to highlight Filipino-developed technologies while giving storytellers a platform to explore creative ways of sharing these innovations.

This edition focuses on science visual storytelling through short-form videos and photo essays.
For Gawad Alunig, participants are invited to create short videos, no longer than three and a half minutes, that transform underappreciated stories into content that resonates with communities and encourages support for local innovations. Meanwhile, Gawad Dalumat centers on photo essays of four to six frames that showcase the uniqueness of local inventions and celebrate curiosity and ingenuity.

Prizes for this year’s campaign are as follows:

Gawad Alunig: ₱75,000 for the grand prize winner; ₱50,000 for the first runner-up; three honorable mentions at ₱25,000 each; and a People’s Choice Award of ₱20,000.

Gawad Dalumat: ₱60,000 for the champion; ₱25,000 for two first runner-ups; three Best Innovation Stories at ₱20,000 each; and a People’s Choice Award of ₱10,000.
Participants can feature technologies from local universities, research institutions, individual inventors, and startups—but must avoid technologies already listed in DOST-TAPI’s assisted tech database. The goal is to connect emerging innovations with wider audiences and relevant DOST-TAPI programs.
