Did Maisie Williams really spoil Arya Stark’s fate in Game of Thrones?

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss what’s in store for us in the next, and final, GoT season. While Williams, the actress behind Arya Stark, tried to avoid the subject by talking about HBO’s constant memos to keep everything mum, she still seemed to slip.

She initially protested by saying: “I’ve decided to just keep a tight lip on everything. HBO [has] sent out a lot of memos recently about saying nothing . . . they would absolutely kill me.” Then eventually gave in and confided: “During shooting, like, the final days were really, like, emotional, saying goodbye to all of the cast. Because when I found out that Arya died in like the second episode, I was—”

But did she really spoil anything? After a drawn-out sketch with Williams acting guilty (and her acting chops did fool quite a bit of people), the duo revealed it all to be an elaborate April’s Fool prank.
