Despite DOTA Ban, Pinoy Team Preps for $2.1M DOTA Championship
In the middle of rising concerns regarding the banning of DOTA in Barangay Salawag in Dasmarinas, Cavite, a Pinoy team is actually preparing for and will be participating at the upcoming DOTA 2 Asia Championships (DAC) on January 29 to February 9 in Shanghai, China, Inquirer.net reports.

Rave-DOTA is an all-Filipino DOTA 2 team based in South Korea. They are set to compete at the DAC against so of the best teams from around the world. The prize total for the said tournament is a whopping US$ 2.1 million.
Rave-DOTA is composed of Jio “Jeyo” Madayag, Ryo “Ryoyr” Hasegawa, Djardel “Chrissy” Mampusti, Mark “Cast” Pillar and Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross, who are all professional DOTA 2 gamers.
They migrated to South Korea to rigorously train with their manager and team owner, Pyung Kwon.
They are also known as the “Overseas Filipino Gamers.”
In 2014, Rave-DOTA were hailed as the Southeast Asian champion at the Mineski Pro Gaming League (MPGL). The total prize pool then was PhP 1 million where Rave-DOTA reportedly took home a large share amounting to PhP 789,687.
It seems that gaming has good and bad effects. However, in some places, the bad might have outweighed the good effects, which lead to banning of the said game. Still, the online community is divided with the recent banning of DOTA. Here are a few comments we got regarding the banning of DOTA in the said barangay.
