Cupcakes by Sonja Launch at the New Glorietta

Cupcakes by Sonja invited close friends and cupcake lovers alike to celebrate the launch of their second and newest store, located at the second floor of the new Glorietta bridgeway. At the extent of sounding cheesy, I can say covering this event was an absolute dream!

The Elvis and Chocolate overload; mini versions!

We were served a delightful dessert buffet of Sonja’s best-selling cupcakes that were replenished as quickly as they were devoured; petite versions of Cupcakes by Sonja’s Red Velvet Vixen, Vanilla Sunshine, and Lemon Drop appeased the raring sweet teeth of all those present. Also on the lavish table spread was an assortment of cake pops, cookies and tarts. Everything was, as expected, perfectly delectable. Each cupcake had a generous dollop of Sonja’s signature sugary sweet and luscious frosting in all their signature flavors, delivering a top-notch sugar rush in every bite. Along with the launch of their second store, Cupcakes by Sonja also launched a fresh new look, giving their logo and store interiors a hip and young update while remaining true to their vintage vibe.

It’s the Cupcake Lady!

The highly acclaimed “cupcake goddess”, Sonja Ocampo herself, was also present at the event to give her thanks and to let us in on their plans of further expanding Cupcakes by Sonja. Will this mean more Cupcakes by Sonja stores opening in the future? I sure hope so! I myself couldn’t resist walking up to Ms. Sonja to personally thank her for those divine cupcakes of hers that have made for years of wonderful stories and memories, and I was quite surprised to be received with such warmth and kindness! As it turns out, the Cupcake Lady is as sweet as the cupcakes she bakes!

All in all, my photographer Hannah and I enjoyed a literally sweet afternoon enjoying Sonja’s delightfully sweet offerings. I’m definitely looking forward to more sweet mornings, afternoons, and nights in this new store! Goodbye diet, and hello to the sweet life!
