Brewing Single Origin Coffee @ Craft Coffee Workshop
Aside from espresso, Craft Coffee Workshop serves single origin coffee brewed via their $12,000 Clover machine (the Ferrari FXX of brewing machines, I guess) or other slow brew machinations and instruments. Customers get to choose which country their coffee beans come from. If you can’t decide whether you like chocolate-y Brazilian, nutty Colombian, full-bodied and fruity Nicaraguan, floral Ethiopian, or any of the other single origin beans that they have, don’t worry, you can always ask your friendly barista for his recommendations.
I tried the Nicaraguan single origin coffee with the Clover brewing machine. The coffee was fruity, somewhat acidic. It was served with a wine glass, which I thought fits well with the whole coffee bar theme. Beside it is a siphoning machine, operated in what I swear looks every bit like a science experiment. The product is a small cup of brewed Colombian coffee. It looked so simple, but man the coffee tasted so good!
The only Clover machine in the Philippines; brewed coffee served in a wine glass. Very interesting…
Raymond siphoning Colombian coffee.
This small cup is the best tasting Colombian coffee I have ever tried!
“We give our clients the opportunity to try coffee from different parts of the world, prepared the way they like it,” says Raymond about the single origin brew experience at Craft Coffee Workshop. And once you find your cup of coffee, you can even buy the beans from the guys at Craft and brew them at home yourself.
An Education in Coffee Development
On a busy day, the second floor of Craft Coffee Workshop is opened to accommodate more guests. There is a lounge area which comfortably sits 10 to 15 people, and another long table at the shop’s Coffee Development Lab. The Lab offers whole-day workshops for clients who are serious about their coffee craft for personal or professional purposes. Regular classes are supervised by Raymond and Craft‘s baristas, while special lecturers occasionally visit to teach classes on making specialty coffee.
Just how good is the team at Craft Coffee Workshop? Kevin is the grand winner of this year’s National Barista Championship while teammate Aldrin snagged 3rd Place!
Craft’s Coffee Development Lab is equipped with the most advanced coffee equipment in the country.
Above and beyond the works, the Coffee Development Lab allows you to learn coffee craft from the best baristas in town. (They might not look like it because of their youth and kakulitan, but they’re really really good at what they do!)
WHEN IN MANILA, Craft Coffee Workshop is getting the nod of true coffee lovers for making great coffee. No frappes. No planners. No gimmicks. Just great coffee sourced from around the globe, roasted to perfection, carefully brewed or extracted, done just the way coffee was meant to be.
