Many fans have since criticized her over her reactions, calling it insensitive to struggling actors, as well as the cast and crew of the show.

Following the initial backlash, the actress explained in a Tweet that her reactions were “ill-timed” and that she was “grateful” for the show’s renewal.

However, the actress said in an official statement that her anger was caused by her having to let go of another opportunity that she claimed would have given her “artistic challenge” instead of the “comfort and ease” of reprising her role in Fresh Off the Boat.

She acknowledged that her words may have been insensitive to struggling actors who didn’t have the privilege she now has for having options.

She ended her apology by expressing her love and gratitude to the cast and crew of the show, but still admitted her conflicted feelings over the renewal. She also alluded to the #MeToo movement by thanking her supporters for hearing her side and for making “the choice to believe women.”
