20-year-old Cameron Boyce, has passed away on Saturday evening, July 6, 2019, his family has confirmed.
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
As for the cause of his death his family has shared: “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”
“Cameron’s tragic passing was due to a seizure as a result of an ongoing medical condition, and that condition was epilepsy,” a family spokesperson shared, according to E! News.
Approximately 65 million people worldwide live with epilepsy. A seizure is a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain where the duration can be from 30 seconds to two minutes.
“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother,” the family said added in a statement.
“From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world,” a Disney Channel spokesperson said. “His love of performing began in a dance studio, which then transitioned him into commercials, and not long after television and film,” the channel says.
Unlike some Hollywood projects, the source explained the cast of the Disney Channel film Descendants is good friends. “The cast is incredibly close and this is such a devastating loss,” the insider said, adding, “They’ve all been texting since they got the news. It’s going to take a long process to heal.”
His co-star Dove Cameron shared: “Cameron was one of my favorite people alive in the world, though I know that’s not unique to me.
