Chris Hemsworth to Join the New All-Female Ghostbusters Cast

Back when I was a kid, for some reason I really enjoyed the Ghostbusters! The movie starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson came out in 1984, 2 years before I was even born, yet I still remember watching it with my siblings during one of its many reruns. It was a childhood favorite for many of those born in the late 80’s or early 90’s.

Well, if you missed the Ghostbusters, then you’ll be thrilled to know they’re coming back! Only this time, the team will be composed of women instead of the men we’re used to. Director Paul Feig is rebooting the Ghostbusters with an all-female cast that includes Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon.

ComingSoon.net shares the following statement from Director Paul Feig, “I’m having a lot of fun playing with genres. I love the original film, but I also just love the idea of busting ghosts and kind of paranormal warriors. I thought, ‘You know, if I could do this with the funny women I know and kind of just do a new origin story…’ I’m more interested in what would happen today. You know, you see things on TV about ghosts, but none of it’s real. What if, suddenly, something started happening? What happens when that just begins to happen to people? Also, how do they develop their technology? It’s not as fun if they’re just handed their proton packs. It’s why it’s not as fun to do a sequel. The fun is getting there.”

To top it all of, Feig announced on Twitter earlier this week that Chris Hemsworth, better known as Thor will be portraying the role of the team’s receptionist – A role portrayed by Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz in the original 1984 version.

I wonder if they’re going to make Chris Hemsworth all nerdy and stuff? Hmm..
