Multi-platinum selling and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Camila Cabello is about to make her film debut. Not only has she snagged the top role for Sony’s reimagining of the classic fairytale, but she’s also said to be heavily involved in the music-making process of the movie. The role is just another successful milestone in her solo career since leaving the girl group, Fifth Harmony.

Not much is known about the project beyond it being a modern version of Cinderella with a musical twist. The script is said to have come from an original idea of late night talk show host and actor, James Corden. Quite a number of Cinderella movies, remakes, and stories have graced Hollywood ever since Disney popularized the tale in 1950 so it will be interesting to see what new take is possibly left for this team.

Corden will be producing the movie alongside Leo Pearlman, his partner at Fulwell 73. Kay Cannon, the director behind Blockers and writer of all Pitch Perfect movies, will be helming the movie.
