Calvin Harris reflects on failed relationship with Taylor Swift

We all know that Taylor Swift’s last high-profile romance was her much-publicized and widely short-lived affair with Tom Hiddleston, dubbed as #HiddleSwift, but before that, she and Calvin Harris were in love.

In case you need a refresher, Taylor, 27, dated British DJ and music producer, Calvin Harris, for 15 months. The two broke off the relationship in what seemed like an amicable split in June 2016, even after the 1989 singer quickly moved on to Tom Hiddleston.

Yet what apparently broke the straw between the two friendly exes was when it was revealed that Taylor co-wrote Calvin’s summer hit, “This Is What You Came For” with Rihanna, after Taylor hid behind the pen name “Nils Sjoberg”. Calvin then went on a Twitter rant where he implied that Taylor’s team leaked the information to make him look bad.

In an interview with the British GQ, Calvin spoke out about his Twitter rant:

“It was completely the wrong instinct. I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled. It felt like things were piling on top of me and that was when I snapped.”

He elaborated on his failed relationship with Taylor, saying:

“It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself. When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense.”
