If I were to name our country’s trademark beach right off the top of my head, it would be ever-relevant, endearingly beautiful and threateningly overrated Boracay. From its virgin beach beginnings in the 60’s and 70’s to its current party island reputation, Boracay continues to awe and amaze regardless of decade or stigma. The island may have been shaped by the changing times and growing number of tourists, but it never fails to make a distinct connection with each visitor. Wherever you are in the island, or however crowded it may be, you will always find a piece of paradise for yourself in Boracay. It is then no wonder how this gorgeous island has spawned many a movie, song, and fashion line; the latest of which I’ve heard of is eponymous brand, BoraBound. BoraBound is a line of swimsuits and apparel that strives to encapsulate the beauty and lifestyle of its famous namesake. Its colorful and breezy pieces are reminiscent of the island’s easy-going lifestyle, tropical vibes and fun, endless possibilities. If I were to pack for a getaway to Boracay, these would definitely be the items I’d first reach for in I closet.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to swimsuits and bikinis; all I want is a cute print and great fit, as it is so hard to find swimsuits that perfectly fit my petite frame. So I was happy to discover that BoraBound’s one-pieces and bikinis feel like they were made to fit and hug the Filipina shape at all the right places! Now I don’t have to worry about wardrobe malfunctions at the beach or ill-fitting bikinis in photos. I also love how their designs and prints are just the right amount of trendy without overdoing it. BoraBound has got the solid-color basics covered and also offer swimmies in fun prints, fringe and tie-die; basically standard Boracay beach garb.

Boracay is indeed too beautiful an island to not glean inspiration from, and I seriously admire this passion project my friend has taken on, who happens to be a fellow beach lover. Nothing beats well-crafted pieces that are made with a whole lot of love, and call to mind a special place or memory. Now I can bring with me Boracay’s bright sun, powdery-white sand beaches, and glorious gradient sunsets wherever I am. Borabound will have its new collection out soon, so do check them out!
