In case you missed it, the Philippines recently received various nominations in several categories at the 27th World Travel Awards (WTA) 2020. The World Travel Awards is considered to be the highest and most prestigious accolade program in the global travel and tourism industry.
The results were revealed earlier this month and here are the categories in which the Philippines won:
Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2020 and World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2020: Intramuros
In Asia, Intramuros won against Cambodia’s Angkor Temples, Indonesia’s Borobudur Temple Compounds, The Great Wall of China, Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, Japan’s Sengan-en and Shoko Shuseikan Museum, India’s Taj Mahal, China’s Terracotta Warriors, China’s Forbidden City, Japan’s Imperial Palace, and Hong Kong’s Victoria Peak.
Other places in the world that Intramuros won against include Intramuros won against Greece’s Acropolis, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Abu Dhabi’s Ferrari World, USA’s Grand Canyon National Park, UAE’s IMG Worlds of Adventure, USA’s Las Vegas Strip, Peru’s Machu Picchu, USA’s Magic Kingdom Park, Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro, South Africa’s Table Mountain, and UAE’s Warner Bros World.

The Philippines won against Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, as well as Azores Island, Bora Bora, Cayman Islands, Fiji, Galapagos Islands, Great Barrier Reef, Maldives, and Mexico.
Asia’s Leading Private Island Resort 2020 and World’s Leading Dive Resort: Amanpulo
For Asia’s Leading Private Island Resort, Amanpulo won against our own Ariara Island, Indonesia’s Bawah Reserve, Cambodia’s Song Saa Private Island, Sri Lanka’s Taprobane Island, and Indonesia’s Telunas Private Island.
For the World’s Leading Dive Resort, Amanpulo won against Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, Maldives’ Constance Moofushi, Fiji’s Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, Belize’s Las Terrazas, Little Cayman Beach Resort, Palau Pacific Resort, China’s Park Hyatt, and Egypt’s Royal Savoy Sharm El Sheikh.
