A Bali trip would not be complete without a relaxing spa session. The Balinese are especially known for their rejuvenating spa rituals and wide array of fragrant oils and scrubs, coupled with astounding views of their natural landscape and Balinese art to complete the experience. We surely did not want to miss out on this during our trip, so we’ve scoured the Internet for great Balinese spas months prior.
During one of our many searches, we stumbled upon The Mango Tree Spa by L’Occitane at Ubud’s Kupu Kupu Barong Villas. Their signature Treetop Massage service sounded very promising.

Cool towels and sweet tea, super refreshing!
The Mango Tree Spa by L’Occitane was, as expected, an absolute dream. We arrived just as the sun was setting at the spa’s picturesque infinity pool overlooking the horizon, with cool towels and refreshing sweet tea on the ready. It was such a welcome respite after a full day of touring; we immediately felt relaxed!

Whisper zone
We were then led by our hosts to our massage suite: a bamboo tree house perched atop a sprawling mango tree, overlooking the most breath-taking views of the Ayung river and the dazzling sunset. Adding a nice touch was their outdoor showers in an adjoining room, also part of the tree house.
Our treatment began with a traditional welcome ritual, a warm footbath filled with Aromachologie Effervescent Sugar Cubes. After which, we were ready for our full-body massage – a luxurious 60 minutes of mango-scented bliss!

I especially loved how L’Occitane’s therapists work by extensively focusing on target areas for their massages. Special attention was given to my back area as I have requested, but the rest of my body also received a good dose of TLC! My aching muscles were gently kneaded and eased to an entirely new level of relaxation, under the skilled hands of my very kind masseuse.
Following our massage was a 30-minute body scrub treatment, with the use of a moisturizing mango juice and rich Shea butter scrub concoction. The soothing massage strokes, aromatic mango fruit oils and the sound of the Ayung river flowing paired with the beautiful Bali sunset made for an amazing overall sensory experience.
We emerged from our treatments greatly relaxed, refreshed, and renewed. This unforgettable experience takes the cake for a massage with the best view! If I could, I’d definitely come back in a heartbeat.
