While this humble little bar in Makati offers only authentic tequila (imported no less from Mexico), Atoda Madre Tequila Bar –Â the only tequila bar in the Philippines – will surely not disappoint.
This hole-in-the-wall bar offers the whole Mexican experience: from their authentic tequila to their food to their ambiance, music and interiors! Owner Aljor Perreras decided to bring ‘the real thing’ to the Philippines because our country is the highest tequila-consuming country in Southeast Asia. This makes Atoda Madre the perfect place for tequila lovers, but it is also great for those with little or no experience with the drink at all.

Tequila 101
There are two types of Tequila: Mixto (tequila with a mix of juices and other additives) and 100% Agave.
If tequila isn’t made of Agave in Mexico, then it’s not really tequila. Also, did you know that 100% Agave tequila won’t give you a hangover in the morning? How cool is that?.
There are four expressions of tequila: Blanco (distilled for 2 months), Reposado (rested in oak barrels from 2 months to one year), Añejo (rested until 3 years), and Extra Añejo (rested from 4 to 6 years).
How to Properly Drink Tequila
 1. Take a little sip from your glass.
 2. Let the tequila sit in your mouth for 15 seconds.
 3. Breathe in and out.
 4. Slowly down it to your throat. Repeat and enjoy the experience!
