The human mom of a golden retriever couldn’t believe her eyes. Her dog had just given birth to nine puppies and one of them is green!
She named the green puppy (can you guess?) Forest.
Apparently, the green coloring is a result of exposure to biliverdin, a green bile pigment found in the placenta. This occurrence is so rare though that it is only known to have happened three times. This one happened in Scotland. The other two cases were in Spain and the United Kingdom, as reported in Time.
The green does not last, though (too bad). It is already fading, according to the article.
The eight puppies with the usual fur will go to good homes. But Forest is for keeps.
