Antoinette Jadaone’s Thriller Film Starring Paulo Avelino to Premiere in Prestigious Int’l Film Festival

It’s been a while since we last heard anything about director Antoinette Jadaone’s upcoming thriller film “Fan Girl” starring Paulo Avelino. For a while, we were terrified that it was going to be among the many film and television projects getting the ax amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, this is not the case; in fact, “Fan Girl” is all set to premiere soon and at a prestigious international film festival, no less!

Paulo Avelino Fan Girl

The film, which is a story about a high schooler crossing paths with her idol Filipino actor, was selected to be among the 32 films showing in the Tokyo International Film Festival‘s new Tokyo Premiere 2020 section, which is described to be the combined version of the festival’s three traditional main sections: competition, Asian Future, and Japanese Cinema.

It is the only Filipino film chosen for the selection. It also stands a chance to win the festival’s only award for the year, the Audience Award. The festival will run from October 31 to November 9.

“Fan Girl” follows a young superfan (played by rising young actress Charlie Dizon) obsessed with Avelino (playing himself) who eventually uncovers a horrifying truth about him after sneaking into his house. There’s no word yet on when it will premiere locally.
