Answering Phone Calls is Now Banned Inside the MRT

Chika on the go? No, you can’t do that anymore—at least not inside Metro Manila’s train lines LRT and now, MRT 3. In a Facebook post published earlier this week, the Metro Rail Transit’s management announced that it will now be prohibiting passengers from taking phone calls in an attempt to prevent the virus from possibly spreading inside the train and affecting commuters. In fact, passengers are banned from talking at all.

They explained in their post that one way COVID-19 can spread is through respiratory droplets that comes from talking, coughing, and sneezing—which is why, aside from the mandatory wearing of face masks, talking is now also prohibited.

The post reads:

TINGNAN:

The MRT 3 management also added that all passengers will be required to fill out a health declaration form for contact tracing purposes. The form will be handed out to each passenger as they line up.

Have you taken the MRT 3 recently? How was the experience? We would love to hear it in the comments!
