After its successful first run in March, Jun Robles Lana’s Anino sa Likod ng Buwan is set to have an intense return this October.
Anino centers on married couple Emma and Nardo and their complex relationship with military man Joel.
Emma and Nardo are refugees living in an unnamed town that has been ravaged by the armed conflict between the Philippine military and communist insurgents. Joel, an army soldier, regularly brings food to the couple and has been bonding with them through nightly visits for card games and casual conversations.
One evening, as a lunar eclipse is about to take place, Emma, Nardo, and Joel engage in another game of cards. But the game slowly descends into a tension-filled conversation about politics and friendship, love and lust, trust and betrayal.
Starring Martin del Rosario, Elora Españo, Ross Pesigan, Edward Benosa, Denise Esteban, and Vincent Pajara, this provocative and bold play will run for two hours with no intermission.
Presented by IdeaFirst Live!, Anino will be staged from October 17 to November 9 at the PETA Theater Center, Quezon City. It will be directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio, a Gawad Buhay awardee who previously served as associate artistic director of Tanghalang Pilipino and festival director of the Virgin Labfest.
A play that keeps audiences at the edge of their seats, with themes and scenes portraying sex, nudity, and violence, Anino sa Likod ng Buwan is reserved for adult audiences only (18 years old and above). Tickets are available through Ticket2Me (https://ticket2me.net/AninosaLikodngBuwan
), starting at P1,164.80.
