Despite losing to Canada’s Victoria Mboko in the Hong Kong Open, the Filipina tennis sensation continues to soar to greater heights, achieving a historic feat for the Philippines.

In March 2025, she began to capture the attention of Filipino sports enthusiasts and global fans after winning three consecutive times at the Miami Open, defeating Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek. Then, she finally reached her first WTA final at the Lexus Eastbourne Open in June, but lost to Maya Joint.

Then, she became the first Filipino to become a WTA champion after defeating Hungary’s Panna Udvary at the Guadalajara 125 Open finals.

To encapsulate a very successful year, the 20-year-old tennis star took to Instagram to reflect on how she was able to turn her dreams into reality.

“This marks the beginning of what I hope to be a long, happy and fruitful career on tour! Thank you everybody, see you in 2026!” she added.
