adidas Philippines made history with the launch of its first collaboration with Filipino fashion designer, Rik Rasos, which features adidas Jabbar footwear and tees. Officially released on November 21, 2025, the partnership bridges global heritage and Filipino artistry, bringing local craftsmanship to the world stage.

This collaboration celebrates adidas’ commitment to cultural authenticity and community storytelling, bringing together the legacy of the retro Jabbar silhouette—NBA legend Kareem Jabbar’s first signature shoe, known for bridging sport and culture—with the contemporary Filipino streetwear vision of Proudrace. Led by Creative Director Rik Rasos, Proudrace is recognized for playful distortions, oversized proportions, and culturally inspired details, making each design uniquely Filipino. In this partnership, Rasos reinterpreted the iconic Jabbar, blending its clean, pioneering lines with subtle, off-beat touches that honor both the shoe’s heritage and Proudrace’s distinct identity.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Rasos shared, “From the very beginning, I felt an incredible creative energy, the kind that happens when everyone’s on the same wavelength. What I loved most was how from our very first meeting the global team already had so many thoughtful ideas to make the shoe design perfectly fit the adidas mold while still preserving the DNA of Proudrace.”
Drawing deeply from his Filipino roots, adidas and Rasos infused the shoes with personal and cultural storytelling. “Every detail carries a memory — the warmth of hardwood floors, lace curtains from my lola’s house, even the stamp patch inspired by letters my dad sent while working overseas. Each element isn’t just visual; it carries the weight of memory, of home, of growing up Filipino. These are small symbols of connection across distance. Emotions you can see, touch, and feel in every pair.”

Beyond aesthetics, the adidas Proudrace Jabbar was designed to honor the silhouette’s basketball roots while resonating with people on a personal and cultural level. As a tribute to basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — one of the sport’s greatest icons and the first NBA player to sign with adidas — the shoe carries a legacy that bridges both sport and culture. “I want everyone who sees these shoes — Filipino or from any background — to feel rooted in their own identity,” Rasos shared. “To walk confidently in what makes them who they are and celebrate their heritage every single day.”
As adidas and Proudrace look ahead, this collaboration opens the door for more stories that celebrate Filipino identity through design — one pair at a time. In Rasos’ words, “Filipinos are globally competitive and our love for our culture can take us to places. We’re looking forward to another adidas Proudrace shoe in the future.”
The Jabbar Lo retails for PHP 7,000 and is available for purchase starting November 21, 2025. The Proudrace Stamp Tee and Proudrace Souvenir Tee are both priced at PHP 2,900, and has hit stores on November 28, 2025.
