The food park craze in the country just keeps getting better and better as more hubs and places offering all sorts of food are opening. Last weekend, we got to visit Quezon City’s newest, freshest and not-your-ordinary food park, The Yard, which just had its soft opening last June 18, 2016.
In a city with more than ten food parks, The Yard flaunts its own unique taste with the diverse homegrown delights it offers and its distinct style with its industrial-themed interior and exterior design. All of their food stalls are carefully selected and curated to provide customers a complete and fulfilling food experience. Most kiosks serve original food concepts which are the fruits of years of professional experiences, exquisite cooking skills, and the passion for creating one-of-a-kind dishes.
The Yard owner Anne Barbara Soriano explains that their goal is to make The Yard a food destination that will bring family and friends together by catering to all kinds of cravings and food preferences. They stand true to their promise, thus providing us 30 food stalls with different specialties and concepts to choose from.
As much as we would recommend for you to try all of them and their scrumptious food, here’s a guide that will help you on your food journey in The Yard.
For chips lovers: The Chippery Fish & Chip Bar
Nope, we’re not talking about junk foods.
The Chippery raised the bar a notch for the traditional fish and chips one level higher. They are serving finger food with potato chips and different dips to choose from. For cones, several options are available such as fish, squid, mussel, oyster and scallop. Can’t choose one? Try the batter platter which is composed of fish, squid rings, mussels, potato chips, and two dips of your choice.
Don’t forget to try their deep fried chocolate bar. We know it’s neither seafood nor chips but we give it a 10/10!
For doughnut lovers: Dip n’ Dough
If you got to taste Dip n’ Dough from Maginhawa before, it’s back and you can find it in The Yard! Dip n’ Dough is serving dough delights with their homemade dips, available in OG chocolate, Matcha Green Tea, Strawberry and a lot more.
They also have Chimneys, or dough, slow-cooked in charcoal, coated with almond, cinnamon and sugar and a dip of your choice. Their Chimneys are the first of its kind in the Philippines! We recommend the Chimney Cream which is topped with whipped cream and blueberries.
Fun fact: Dip n’ Dough started as a part of the owner, Gian De Guzman’s, college thesis.
For waffle lovers: Waff
Waff takes the love for waffles into a whole new level by serving them extra special. We tried their Peanut Butter Waffle Sandwich, Herbed Chicken and Red Velvet Bubble Waff and a special taste of their Matcha Leige.
S’moreffles also got on our favorites from The Yard! By the way, check out their Sisig Volcano which features the best sisig varieties on top of a special waffled rice. Yes, waffled rice!
For Korean food lovers: Little Wondang
Craving Korean food with a twist? Little Wondang’s got you. Indulge on their classic ssamjan-infused beef Bibimbap or try a fusion of Korean and Filipino flavors with their Tocbimbap (tocino), Longbimbap (longganisa) and Tuyobimbap (tuyo).
They also serve jap chae, beef and chicken bulgogi, and mandu. Mandu, the house favorite, is breaded and topped with kimchi mayo or cheesy garlic and will definitely capture your heart in every bite.
For Spanish food lovers: Asombroso
Asombroso offers classic Spanish dishes, such as paella, gambas, salpicao, and many more. Both owners are chefs and when asked what makes their food stand out, they disclosed that despite the affordability of their products, they use authentic ingredients like olive oil and white wine.
They also offer paella balls; your favorite paella served round-shaped. Oh, did we mention that their dining space has these hanging light bulbs that will truly set the mood just right?
For steak lovers: Rustic Box
Yearning for the distinctive taste of steak and looking for a heavy meal? Rustic Box is the place to go to. They offer steaks of all sorts, from T-Bone and Ribeye to Herbed Salmon and Angus Salisbury. Their Blue Marlin Steak is our personal favorite. The meat is so, oh, tender yet flavorful and every bite is a definite pleasure.
You can also choose a side that comes with your steak. With Rustic Box, you can now indulge on your favorites without breaking the bank because their dishes are all very affordable.
For chicken wings lovers: Mac n Chicks
Imagine this: Your favorite mac and cheese added with chicken wings. That’s basically the concept behind The Yard’s chicken wings destination, Mac n Chicks.
They also serve other flavors aside from the classic Mac n Chicks Buffalo Wings, such as Honey Garlic Wings, Sriracha Wings and Korean Orange Wings. Available dips include creamy garlic, ranch, blue cheese and wasabi mayo.
Thank you for promoting Little Wondang.
