A First-Timer’s Juice Cleanse Experience with Spruce Cold Pressed Juices

On the day of my juice cleanse, my set of juices were delivered to my doorstep early in the morning. A standard of five bottles should be enough for you to last a day of cleansing, but if your day is packed with more activities, consuming around eight bottles is recommended. I also suggest drinking your first bottle as soon as you get up, before the acid-induced hunger pangs kick in, to prep your digestive tract for the day.

Trading in my usual breakfast for Spruce’s “Apple of my Eye” juice and a cup of tea.

Spruce Cold-Pressed Juices are made fresh daily from the choicest ingredients, and are created using top-of-the-line Norwalk Hydraulic Press Juicers, ensuring that all the awesome organic stuff – the flavors, nutrients and enzymes – are extracted in their purest form and remain intact in every bottle. To take all this healthful goodness a step further, Spruce makes their juices without any artificial sweeteners, flavors, preservatives, and food coloring, which means all you get is raw and natural fruit/veggie juice!

Personally loved Spruce’s “Lady Luck” drink, made with carrot, orange, pear, pineapple, beet, lemon and ginger.

Spruce Juices also contain less than 300 calories per bottle, and are good enough to last up to 48 hours if refrigerated and kept sealed. And oh yeah, their chic packaging is even more loveable up-close – so much character in every bottle! And they are just as filling as they are cool; downing a bottle of their “Formula 1” easily filled me up, but after feeling hungry just an hour later, I quickly followed it up with bottle number 2.  It is recommended to have a bottle at an average of every two hours. The goal is to stay full though, so don’t worry about running out of bottles to drink early in the day. Just drink when you get hungry; once your digestive tract gets used to the juices, you’ll start to stay fuller for longer periods of time.

I loved the range of flavors Spruce’s juice bottles offered. Their green selection tasted a lot like your usual salad, with hints of sweetness from the fruits (apples, pears, pomelo, pineapple, etc.) added to the mix. Fruitier variants are also available with sweet and tangy concoctions of apples, carrots, lemons, and ginger. Spruce even goes as far as adding red peppers, garlic, onion, jalapeno chili peppers, and olive oil into some of their juices! I honestly felt like I was downing a bowl of salsa, which wasn’t such a bad thing after all – I never knew veggies juices can taste so savory!

After downing 6 bottles throughout the day (and some bread, couldn’t resist! No shame though – gotta give your body what it needs), I went to bed feeling full and satisfied, and woke up the next day feeling light, bright and refreshed. I also wasn’t craving for junk food like I normally would, so I settled with some leftover bottles I had for breakfast. Spruce does such a good job of curbing raging appetites!

For its honest-to-goodness health benefits, interesting flavor combinations (Cayenne powder-infused juice, anyone?) and products that have so much wit and character, Spruce Cold-Pressed Juices made my first juice cleanse experience a pleasant one; might give it another try soon – without the bread this time!
