Philippine tennis sensation Alex Eala reached a new career high in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.

Although the official rankings are to be unveiled once the Grand Slam concludes this weekend, Alex has already climbed to a career-best No. 28 in the WTA live rankings despite losing to Italy’s Jasmine Paolini.
This milestone comes after her historic fourth-round run at the Wimbledon Championships, where she dethroned women’s singles defending champion Iga Swiatek.
Ahead of the Wimbledon Championships, she returned to the Top 30 of the WTA rankings. In November 2025, the 21-year-old tennis star broke into the Top 50 after capturing the attention of Filipino sports fans and the global tennis community with her breakout performances in major tournaments.
Her impressive Wimbledon stint made her the first-ever Filipina to win a singles match in the Open Era, the first-ever Filipina to reach the third round of a Grand Slam, and the first Filipina to reach the round of 16, right before the quarter-finals.
