Claudia Barretto has filed a petition to legally remove her father’s surname from her name.

In an Instagram post, Dennis Padilla shared a copy of a court document filed before the Regional Trial Court Branch 302 in Quezon City. According to the document, the 26-year-old is seeking to change her name from Claudia Isabelle Barretto Baldivia to Claudia Isabelle Barretto.

“Kung ang lungkot ko ay kasiyahan mo anak… Hindi magbabago ang pagmamahal ko sayo Claudia,” he said.
Meanwhile, the caption read: “Love you Claui… I respect your decision… Malungkot lang talaga.”
Baldivia is Dennis’ legal surname, while Padilla is merely his screen name, which he adopted in honor of the late actor Dencio Padilla. The veteran comedian’s real name was Prudencio Baldivia.
Claudia is the second daughter of Dennis and his former wife, Marjorie Barretto. The former couple also shares two other children: actress Julia Barretto, their eldest, and Leon Barretto, their youngest.
In 2025, she married her longtime boyfriend, Basti Lorenzo. Following the wedding, Dennis expressed his disappointment on social media, claiming that he was treated more like a “visitor” than the father of the bride. He also shared his frustration over not being given the opportunity to walk Claudia down the aisle.
Dennis’ public remarks further strained his relationship with his former wife and their children.
