A 21-year-old University student in eastern China suffered an attack after watching the much-awaited Avengers: Endgame. She had to be sent to the emergency room after crying uncontrollably throughout the movie and suffering through symptoms of a panic attack. She was discharged later on in the day but her friends remained deeply concerned for her.

According to Chinese media, she began hyperventilating as she exited the cinema and her friends decided to bring her to the hospital. She was feeling chest pains and struggled to find air to breathe. Her limbs were beginning to feel numb while at the same time starting to spasm. Her fists were even involuntarily clenching. Upon seeing this, the group of friends called an ambulance for her.

The doctor on-call is quoted as describing:
I saw her gasping for air, and based on her friends’ description, we figured she must’ve cried too much which resulted in hyperventilation. We then immediately put on an oxygen mask for her and tried to calm her down so her symptoms would go away.
After being accordingly treated she was allowed to go home, with no permanent damage afflicting her. Some comments on social media say it was an overreaction or probably due to her being a die-hard Marvel fan. Others defended her by saying the movie really is that emotional.
