TRAVEL: Resort airport in Cebu to start operations in July

Cebu’s resort airport will be opening its doors soon.

The P17.5-billion Terminal 2 of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is set to be inaugurated on June 7. It will start operations on July 1.

President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to be present during the inauguration.

Between its inauguration and actual operation, the resort airport will be open for guests to visit. Additionally, test runs and clean up will be done during the period.

The new resort airport will cater to both domestic and international flights.

It expected to increase airport’s passenger capacity to 12.5 million yearly.

There will be 48 counters in the resort airport and it will be expanded to 72. The terminal has 12 escalators and 15 elevators. Its parking facility can cater up to 550 cars, which can be expanded to 750 cars.
