WOW: Cebu’s newest airport terminal will be a “FRIENDLY RESORT”!

A post published by the official Department of Transportation – Philippines Facebook page has stated that the second terminal of Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) “will open this June 2018”. That’s just a month away!

The terminal is said to be “envisioned as the ‘World’s Friendliest Resort Airport”. Based on photos, the architecture of the airport does give an inviting feel of a resort.

MCIA is one of the fifteen international airports we have in the country.

The terminal is expected to “lessen congestion” for travelers, other than “showcasing Filipino creativity, ingenuity and hospitality with its architectural designs”.

The Inquirer reports that a special fact to acknowledge about the second terminal of Mactan Cebu International Airport is that it is “built using glulam wood instead of the traditional steel that is used in many modern airports.”

“We create the first and last impressions visitors make of Cebu and the rest of the country and thus we want to create a worthy impression for everyone. Not only will the new terminal look distinctly Filipino, it will also be a complete experience of Filipino hospitality the moment you set foot here,” GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation president Louie Ferrer tells the Inquirer in a previous interview.

“This airport is more than a transfer point, we are making it a vital part of the Cebu experience.”

As of writing, no word has been said on what other facilities the second terminal of Mactan Cebu International Airport will offer, but we can’t wait to have the chance to experience it when we’re at the Queen City of the South!
