Rocket Shrimp’s Alcohol-Infused Menu is Divine

 

There’s so many new things to try around Manila and having a boring meal is such a waste! So, why not drift away from the usual and go to the home of the temptations we find really hard to resist for a change? Alcohol and seafood. Personally, I am allergic to seafood, but then it’s just so worth it every single time. I’ve tasted some shrimp dishes marinated firsthand in alcohol, but I’ve never tried a restaurant with almost the whole menu infused with alcohol. Again: EVERYTHING with alcohol! Just wow. Guess that’s why Rocket Shrimp is called a tavern and a kitchen.

 

 

Located at the Oracle in Katipunan Ave., Rocket Shrimp feels like a great hangout place, especially with the chill ambiance and the good choice in music. For some reason, music is a really big factor for me in looking for a good place to chill, and this one gets a big APPROVED sign.

 

They serve a few shrimp dishes, pastas, steaks, awesome sides like the beer-battered onion rings, and of course some good, old beer! 

Let’s take a closer look on their Seafood platter:

 

 

The rocket shrimp and dory! Crisp and golden brown with just the perfect texture. It might seem bland when eaten plain, but that’s when the sauces get their action. This is where I can really say AWESOMESAUCE because they’re just that good! It’s actually just barbecue sauce and tomato ketchup, but infused with alcohol. I’ve been a big fan of ketchup my whole life, but seriously, this one is just too good. It makes me so happy to know that alcohol can make a lot of things a notch yummier. 😉 

 

 

We’re used to Jack Daniel’s steaks, but here is the Dark Beer Steak. The char-grilled flavour is very prominent on the outside, and it is just the right medium rare in the inside. We all have our own preferences for steaks, but I really find this one’s beer-infused steak sauce just addictive. Also, with some of the classic fries on the sides, your tummy will be full before you know it.

 

 

I wish I was able to try more of their dishes, but they were surprisingly filling and I guess the rest of the menu will have to wait til the next visit. I can’t wait to taste that alcoholic ketchup again! Even if you’re the sober type, though, this would be something you shouldn’t miss out on! Just gotta love shrimp and alcohol!
