5 New Year’s Resolutions For Those Who Don’t Have New Year’s Resolutions

Yes, it’s that time of the year again when we list down the new year’s resolutions we’ll likely forget the time February rolls around. Even if we rarely push through with it, it’s fun to think about them because it shows what we want to do or where we want to be in the long run. And if we remind ourselves every now and then, there’s still hope that we’ll be able to achieve them.

Many people don’t bother thinking of new year’s resolutions, and are completely content where they are right now. While there is nothing wrong with that, it’s always a good idea to recalibrate and improve ourselves. As they say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

For those who cannot think of resolutions for 2017, we have some suggestions for you:

1. Get your dream job

We all have that one officemate who keeps complaining about the work and who wants to quit and move somewhere else. If you don’t have an officemate like that, you’re probably that officemate. If you are, what’s stopping you from leaving that dead-end job? Many times, people don’t leave because they’re familiar with the job. Working someplace else means having to make new friends, learning new rules, and having a new boss they have to get to know. Yes, there is a possibility that you won’t like your new job as much as your current one, but what if it will be 2017’s greatest decision?

2. Support a cause

Yes, it’s fulfilling to be able to support yourself and your family, but why not support a cause? We’re sure you’re passionate about something, so why not give your time, money, or attention to making sure they get what they need? Whether it’s education, animal welfare, women and children’s rights, there’s an organization that will appreciate your concern. Many people don’t have the privileges that we have, and they will appreciate your efforts.

3. Get your dream body

Another common complaint is that we don’t have our dream body. We all wish we were thinner, fitter, or more muscular. What we seem to be forgetting is that our weight is not given to us by chance. It is a result of our actions. If we’re not happy with what we look like, maybe it’s time to look at our eating habits and lifestyles. Are we eating too much? Are we working out enough? If you want to achieve your dream body, moderate your food intake and enroll in a gym. Anytime Fitness is open 24 hours so you don’t have any excuse not to go! They have branches around the Philippines, like in Alabang, Bonifacio High Street, Burgos Circle, Bacoor, Eastwood, Cubao, Escario in Cebu City, Cebu Business Park, Davao, and TriNoma (in February 2017). It’s time to get that dream body this year!

4. Find a meaningful hobby

Work is stressful because that’s all we think and talk about. The minute we wake up in the morning, our thoughts are already on our deadlines and tasks for the day. We get up, prepare for work, head to the office, and spend the next eight plus hours doing work-related tasks. Whether we go out with our officemates or head home, we’ll talk about how our day went. We have a few hours at home to consume media, fall asleep, then get back to the same routine. Break the cycle by being fully immersed in a hobby. Take up reading, writing, or archery. There has to be an activity that you enjoyed doing before work took up all your attention. Don’t say you don’t have time to do it. You really don’t. You don’t find time, you make time.

5. Start a blog

So many people keep telling me they’ve always wanted to blog. Go do it this 2017! Write about your thoughts, opinions, and activities. Don’t worry about readership. You’re doing this for you, not the world. You may treat it as a raket where you can write about products and services, or you can keep it as a personal journal of your 2017. Our reasons for keeping blogs are different, but whatever it is, it has been proven that writing can help you process your thoughts better and help you deal with emotional trauma. It’s also a great way for you to look back and reminisce on the good memories!
