Medieval Banquet – The Once and Future King Book Discussion
Chess-Themed PartyÂ
Â
Gege is the founder of Flips Flipping Pages, the biggest book club in the Philippines with over 1,000 online members. Although we take turns moderating, if Gege volunteers to take care of logistics, we can expect a more than extraordinary book discussion. Her touch transform a drab venue into an imaginary world come true. How does she do it? I haven’t figured it out completely yet, but I think she injects tiny elements that normally we take for granted into the setup such as plastic glass buttons glued into cups to make them appear as if they were goblets in a medieval banquet, or coming up with a menu that sounds pretty close to what the characters in the book being discussed would be having. All in all, Gege is the goddess of ambiance, and she is ready to bring her magic out of the book club and into the world.Â
Does she accept orders?
Yes, she does. Contact her via this Facebook Page . And, please, don’t take advantage of her. She loves, loves party styling and often does it for free for friends because she just fell in love with the theme and felt that there-is-no-way-in-hell-someone-else-will-style-the-party-except-her.
When in Manila, much of the unique and extraordinary are with the subcultures, and, in this case among the very active bookish community. If you’re after convenience and cookie-cutter gifts, maybe you should just go to the mall. But if you’re after the unforgettable, then maybe you should contact Ajie, Rhett or Ajie.Â
