Director Danny Boyle and movie writer Alex Garland, who helmed the original film “28 Days Later,” are set to reunite in the new installment. Meanwhile, the cast includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes.

Although Cillian Murphy wasn’t in the poster, it was previously confirmed that he will be part of “28 Years Later” as an executive producer. In an interview with Deadline, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman also revealed that the award-winning actor will appear in the film in a “surprising way.”

“28 Years Later” will premiere on June 20, 2025. As of writing, further details remain under wraps.

Released in 2002, “28 Days Later” tells the story of Jim, portrayed by Murphy, a bike courier who wakes up from a coma to discover that a virus known as Rage has decimated the UK.

Its 2007 sequel, “28 Weeks Later,” directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, is set six months after the outbreak and focuses on efforts to repopulate London, only for the virus to resurface.
