The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) has declared the 225-year-old Sta. Ursula Parish Church in Binangonan, Rizal as a National Cultural Treasure.

The historic moment took place on March 2 during a ceremony attended by Bishop Ruperto Cruz Santos, NCCA Chair Victorino Mapa Manalo, NCCA Deputy Executive Director Marichu Tellano, former NCCA Chair Felipe De Leon, Rizal Governor Ricci Ynares, and Binangonan Mayor Caesar Ynares.

During the momentous event, the Missa Cantata, composed by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, was performed by Coro Buenviaje under the direction of Joey Soliman Jr.
“This milestone serves as a testament of the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines,” the NCCA stated.
The Sta. Ursula Parish Church was built between 1792 and 1800 and was renovated in 1853. It is under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Antipolo and is one of the diocese’s seven Jubilee churches.
