Kris Sy is the notable Girl Boss of Electric Studio. Her love for indoor cycling began at her favorite place in New York City where she took classes three times a week for three years before she eventually convinced herself to open up her own studio in Manila in 2014.

“I created Electric because I wanted to create a fitness experience that empowers; a place that can transform you physically, mentally and spiritually,” she says. “The belief that our workout can transform and empower your life is something I try to bring in each class. After teaching for almost 5 years, I can honestly say that I fall in love with the craft and the community we’ve built more and more each day.”

Apart from managing the studio, she is a crazy dog mom to her 2-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Ollie (@olliebearsworld).

Cara Gonzalez describes her first indoor cycling ride as an “out-of-body experience.” Not being able to shake that feeling off is precisely what drove her to be an instructor at Electric Studio where she has worked for 4 years now. In every class, she tries her best to share the same feeling she felt the first time. “The connection we make in our [Electric] community is authentic and deeply rooted in sharing good energy and vibes with everyone else. It’s so beautiful to feel that whatever happens inside and outside the bike room, it’s a shared experience for everyone,” she says.

Cara is also a dentist by profession and lives by her mantra to always elevate the dental experience for her patients.

Jam Muñasque has been teaching at Electric Studio for three years. Like many others, she got curious to try spinning because of friends who’ve tried it but what ultimately got her hooked was the themed rides that the studio offered from time to time. “When I saw that there was a Taylor Swift themed ride, I knew this was definitely the studio for me,” she jokes.

As an avid music lover, Jam ensures that each class she teaches tells a story. “I grew up listening to musicals and country songs, so my rides also have an element of storytelling—with the beats, timing, and choreography all working together.”

Outside of the studio, she works as a corporate brand manager.

Unlike others, Ytle Cruzado admits that she wasn’t into indoor cycling at first. Having been used to dancing and circuit training, spinning seemed like a different thing altogether. However, becoming an instructor at PERIGON earlier this year changed her mindset. “Now I crave the rush and energy that spinning gives me. I get to meet a lot of amazing people inside and outside the bike room and it’s definitely a different kind of fulfillment to watch your riders’ progress and growth,” she shares. “It’s literally dancing on the bike!”

Ytle also prides herself on being a performing artist, teaching dance classes occasionally and joining local and international competitions with her team Aftermath.

Dani Cornejo has been a fitness instructor for years now but has only recently started teaching spin classes. According to her, spinning has always been a challenge and she admits that she did not start out strong. “But I eventually learned to love it so much because as a dancer, I really appreciate music and movement! And I also really appreciate my students! All those factors really help me get through teaching an intense class,” she shares.

Apart from this, Dani is also an instructor at Plana Forma and holds dance classes at several dance studios in Metro Manila. She also created Women Beyond Dance PH (@WomenBeyondDancePH), an online platform that features the thriving women in the Philippine Dance Community.

Spinning came into Bianca Floirendo’s life during a time when she needed an anchor to hold onto. A self-confessed introvert, it was a big step for her to decide to become an instructor at Ride Revolution, but she knew she needed it to grow. “I decided that this movement is a lot bigger than I am,” she shares. “Spinning is more than just an exercise. It’s an avenue to feel, to question, to push forward, to dive deep, and inevitably, to grow as a person. Whatever it is you’re going through. Wherever you are in life, whoever you are.”

Now, she tries to spread that message to all her students by giving them the most empowering rides she can possibly give. When she isn’t on the saddle, she works a corporate day job at an FMCG company.

Jana Mahusay took her first spinning class in December 2017 and it immediately ignited a spark within her. She decided to teach it beginning mid-2018 because of how much she fell in love with the atmosphere, the people, and the magic that was created inside the bike room. “It really is hard to emulate anywhere else,” she says. “I loved that I’m able to help other people achieve their fitness goals in such a fun way! I loved that I am used as a vessel to help make people’s lives better through fitness.”

Other than spinning, Jana is also a member of the A-Team Philippines dance troupe since 2011 and teaches dance classes at their home studio Zero Studio.
