10 Insane Fan Conspiracy Theories of Your Favorite Cartoons and Anime

5. Smurfs is a communist propaganda.

Smurfs conspiracy theory

In the movie, the Smurfs live in a utopian society that is ruled by a benevolent and strict leader known as Papa Smurf. Everything that he does is to make sure that Smurf village is well maintained, organized, and safe from the evil plans of Gargamel. Also, the Smurfs don’t have money and no barter system. They keep a society where everyone has a specific function and they are pretty surviving like that. Sounds like Karl Marx’s “The dictatorship of the Proletariat as the Instrument of Revolution.”

Gargemel, on the other, side is a capitalist. All he wants is to consume the Smurfs and his motivation is to get enough Smurfs so that he can create a potion that will turn base matter into gold.

It clearly shows the clash between capitalism and communism isn’t it?

4. Power Puff Girls are originally created to become sex slaves.

power puff girls conspiracy theory

This can be a disturbing theory, but the face of the Professor when the girls appeared in the opening song is quite scary and there are episodes where he helps the girls take a bath.

Some fans say that Professor Utonium is actually a pervert and pedophile who created the three girls to satisfy his sexual desires. However, it turns out that the girls have superpowers and the Professor couldn’t carry out his plans. He, however, continues to live with the girls until he can do his original plan. It is also suspected that Mojo Jojo is the girls’ half-brother who is also sexually interested in her younger siblings, which is why he keeps on trying to capture them.

3. Timmy of the “Failry Oddparents” is physically and sexually abused.

fairly odd parents conspiracy theory

It is alleged that the Fairly Oddparents are the dead grandparents of Timmy. After their death, Timmy imagines that he is still saved by his grandparents who are the only people that care for him because his parents physically abuse him. At the beginning of the show, you would see Timmy’s father yelling “It’s time for your morning beating,” which sends Timmy to hide and scream. Then it shows him with a broken arm and a black eye until the scene starts to fade and he wakes up in a room, not injured, with his grandparents.

Also, why is Mr. Crocker obsessed in stealing Timmy’s fairies? Could it be a metaphor of stealing Timmy’s innocence and youth? Some fans suspect that Mr. Crocker molested Timmy.

2. My neighbor Totoro is about a crime. (Sayama Incident)

My Neighbor Totoro conspiracy theory

Rumors say that Totoro is the god of death, which is why Mei and Satsuki can see him. When Mei goes missing and a sandal is found in the pond, Mei is already drowned. Satsuki said that it doesn’t belong to Mei, but she may be lying. Also, if you will compare the shadows of Mei, her shadow in the latter part is more transparent than the first part of the movie.

This movie is also believed to be based on the crime known as the Sayama Incident. In May 1963, in Sayama, a 16-year old girl was kidnapped, raped, and murdered. Her older sister desperately looked for her, but after a few days learned that her younger sister was already brutally murdered. It is also said that her slipper was found near her body and 6 Ojizou-san. In the beginning of the movie, when the old lady picks up the box that was dropped, the box is labeled “Sayama Tea.” According to some rumors, tea field is where the older sister delivered the ransom for her sister though she eventually committed suicide afterwards.

What is more suspicious is the scene where Mei is alone next to 6 Ojizou-san which means “shrine cape.” At the end of the movie when the two sisters are united, they’re sitting on the tree with Totoro. Weird right? Why didn’t they go directly to see their mother? Also, it’s creepy when their Mom said “I think I just hear Satsuki and Mei laughing now.” There is a superstition that if you hear the voice of the dead, then you are also close to dying.

1. Spirited Away is about sex exploitation.

spirited away conspiracy theory

In the front door of the bath house in the movie there is a symbol that says ( ゆ) “yu” which is translated to “hot water.” This symbol is used on the entrance of (onsen) and (sento) or bath houses in Japan. After knowing this, a fan did more reading and find out something interesting about bath houses during the Edo period. During those times, bath houses are popular among men because of women who work there, washing men and selling sex. “Yuna Baro” is what they called these bath houses which directly translates to “hot water woman” and is run by a “Yubaba” which translates to “hot water old woman.” In the movie Spirited Away, the name of the woman who runs the bath house is Yubaba while the female workers are referred to as “yuna.” Chihiro is also forced to change her name to “Sen” like a prostitute change her name. A character named “No-Face” keeps on offering Chihiro money and keep on saying he “wants her.”

In an interview with the creator, Hayao Miyazaki, he confirmed that they put the message there intentionally. He said that it was a movie that tackles the issue of the sex industry rapidly growing in Japan and that the children being exposed to it at such early age is a problem.
