The Pin-Ups: “Can’t Stand Waiting Here” Single and Music Video Launch
THE PIN-UPS is a new band formed from the “dissolution” of underground stalwarts THE PIN-UP GIRLS. The Pin-Up Girls was dubbed “the first Philippine-based band to sign with a U.S. label” (Know-It-All Records in Tacoma, Washington and later with Sutton Music). They were also part of the U.K.’s Baby Boom Records compilation album.
The new incarnation is led by vocalist/guitarist Mondo Castro (ex-NU107 DJ), lead guitarist Ryan Nachura, and vocalist/guitarist Hiyasmin Neri (actress and host). They are joined by Raffy Bonifacio (ex-Manibela) and bassist Hazel Silvestre.
The band is committed to the same quality music created by its predecessor and aims to glorify Jesus Christ without being too preachy. The music has evolved while being grounded in pop, indie, alternative, and Brit-inspired rock.
The Pin-Ups will be launching a free digital single and music video on December 29, 2014 at Craft, Bonifacio Global City in cooperation with PINOYTUNER and U.S. Christian Indie label HolyZone Records. Castro sent a demo of “Can’t Stand Waiting Here” to the label and received a response from the CEO Chip Flores. He said that ‘I get thousands of songs sent in every day. My staff tries to listen to as many as possible. The Pin-Ups’ music came through and we all had the same smile on our face like “finally something different and fresh.”
Peter Godwin, of 80’s new wave band Metro, after hearing the demo of “Can’t Stand Waiting Here”, exclaimed: ” Very retro! Could almost be The Buzzcocks!”
