How to Win Against Asthma – Tips From Kim Chiu, Arnel Pineda and Michael Martinez
1. Understand your condition.
The first thing that you should do is to fully understand what the disease is. If you or someone you know experiences recurring periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and coughing, you’d better check with your doctor because you may be asthmatic. Some causes can be rooted from an inherited tendency to develop allergies called atopy, certain respiratory infections during childhood, parents who have asthma or contact to airborne allergens. Basic information will always do you good.
2. Always bring medication.

Carrying your nebulizer at all times can be a hassle (bulky and too heavy), but an inhaler is a good alternative. Be prepared and take your meds regularly; it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
3. Spread awareness.
Just like GSK’s campaign, let your peers, family and relatives know what asthma is all about, so we can all fight against it. The underlying problem is the uncontrolled handling of asthma, thus resulting to lives sacrificed. Let’s not wait for more people to suffer.
