Their menu is simple, but sometimes, simplicity is the best.
And now, for perhaps the most awaited part of this review: the food. That weekend, CaliBurger introduced new products to their customers as part of their “Always Fresh” weekend. Included in the launch were their new Bacon BBQ Burger, Chicken Wings, and Onion Rings.
The Bacon BBQ Burger: I am a huge (unashamed) carnivore, and when it comes to my burgers, I love burgers that are both uncomplicated, yet still have a lot of layers of flavor. The burger was a great marriage of juicy beef patty, smoked bacon, tangy BBQ sauce, and fresh, crunchy veggies, all lovingly hugged between two sesame seed buns.
The Onion Rings: Don’t you just hate it when you bite into an onion ring, and when you pull away, the onion comes away from the batter, and you’re left with this soggy onion in your mouth and oily batter between your fingers? Not so with the CaliBurger onion rings: they’re thin, crispy, and lightly beer-battered. The little touch of thyme just makes the onion ring experience all the better.
The Chicken Wings: I’m pretty picky when it comes to fried chicken. I love chicken wings that are crunchy and flavorsome on its own without having to rely on breading or batter. The CaliBurger wings were juicy, crispy, and cooked perfectly.
All in all, it was an awesome experience that I was glad to be able to be a part of, even if I did have to sit through 3 hours of bus travel to be able to get there! CaliBurger delivers on its motto (and promise) of “Always Fresh” because all of the food is prepped after you order it and not a minute before. For those who find the Timog branch a bit far, don’t despair. CaliBurger has another branch in Makati, at Century City Mall.
