Ampalaya Monologues: Hugot Night through a series of Poetry, Art, and Music

Ampalaya Monologues

It’s the time of the year again. While a thimble full of whiskey can take your mind off the crazy things like finding a mistletoe and start hurling them at people, or just setting “Last Christmas” on repeat one while drinking yourself into hibernation, there is indeed a better way to deal with singleness in this season of the year.

But if you’re anything like me, where you’re used to surviving through the holidays with the help of your good friend wine, or maybe spending the rest of the days on a trip to avoid the bitterness, you might have already wondered where the hell to spend the rest of the days count down. Where else different.

So instead of being the sour puss at the corner dreading every single holiday song being played, on the night December 13, at Pink Panda Southeast Asian Diner, the geniuses behind Ampalaya Monologues organized an event where people together can celebrate a night of agony, and of singleness, and of love and heartache through a series of music, art, and monologues performed by various spoken word artists from Words Anonymous, Theatre in Alternative Platforms, and Titik: Poetry and Open Mic.

The night was filled with smiles and cries and laughter as spoken word artists performed beautiful pieces of poetry inspired by their love stories , singleness, and heartbreaks.

Check out some these hugot lines from various spoken word artists:
