ZAGIN SOBA Hosts ‘IKIGAI – THROUGH CONNECTION’ Food and Fashion Collaboration in Makati

On July 19, ZAGIN SOBA in Makati will transform from a ramen restaurant into a place where people, creativity, and culture connect.

“IKIGAI – THROUGH CONNECTION” is a one-night special event that brings together Japanese food culture and the creative energy of the Philippines. Osaka-born ramen brand ZAGIN SOBA will collaborate with Filipino artist and designer Elijah Contillo to express the idea of ikigai through both fashion and food.

The event will feature a fashion show showcasing one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces created by Elijah Contillo. But the experience will not end on the runway. The same creative world will extend into the restaurant itself, with ZAGIN SOBA team members wearing limited-edition uniforms inspired by the collaboration for one week starting July 19.

Guests will also be able to enjoy an exclusive ramen created especially for this event.

Food and fashion are often seen as separate cultures. Through this collaboration, ZAGIN SOBA aims to create a space where enjoying a bowl of ramen becomes part of a broader cultural experience.

Guided by the brand concept, “A Place To Take Someone Special,” the event is designed as a place to share time with someone important, meet new people, and create meaningful conversations.

In Japanese, ikigai is often translated as one’s reason for living or sense of purpose. For ZAGIN SOBA, ikigai is not something found alone. It is shaped through encounters, relationships, and the connections we build with others.

That is why this event is called “IKIGAI – THROUGH CONNECTION.”

Through food, fashion, music, and human connection, the event brings together different cultures to create a new kind of dining experience in Manila.

ZAGIN SOBA will open at 5:00 PM on July 19. The fashion show is scheduled to begin around 6:00 PM, followed by the serving of the event-exclusive ramen at around 7:30 PM. Limited-edition ZAGIN SOBA × Elijah Contillo T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

While the fashion show is a one-night-only event, the limited-edition uniforms will continue for one week, and the exclusive ramen will be available until July 31.

Through this collaboration, ZAGIN SOBA continues to move beyond being just a place to eat. It aims to become a platform where food, people, and culture meet.
