Startups are a widespread thing in our day and age, all of them here to improve service and convenience in different aspects of everyday life. From groceries to selling your products for you, they take every opportunity to prove that they are here to stay. Which is why Australia’s premier startup event, Startcon is holding its annual start-up and growth conference in Sydney. Recently, they held their Pitch for $1 Million competition here in Manila.
This is how it works: Each startup has two minutes to pitch everything there is to know about their startup and eventually move on to the next round. The winning pitch will receive a ticket to Sydney for a chance to compete for $1 million worth of funding from Right Click Capital, one of the most active venture capital firms in Asia Pacific and a Draper Venture Network member.
Around 20 startups came to pitch for the $1 million of funding and only three made it to the top. 3rd place went to Cognitv a startup dedicated to identifying your consumer demographic through I.A. utility for your business. Pushkart claimed 2nd is an online grocery delivery service that aims to ensure fast, convenient, and safe delivery of groceries right at your doorstep.
The startup flying to Australia winning first place from Manila with a chance to compete for $1 million worth of funding is Great Deals, an e-commerce distributor catering multi-national brands.
But that’s not all! You can also network with potential investors and fellow startups in attendance. And even though there’s only one champion going to Sydney to get the $1 million worth of funding, the next two still get tickets to attend Startcon 2018 in Australia. Exciting!
