Will Tom Cruise, NASA work on first movie filmed in outer space?

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is in talks with Hollywood star Tom Cruise to make the first movie shot in space. This development was revealed by NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine.

The details of the movie aren’t clear yet but Bridenstine confirmed that the movie will be shot aboard the International Space Station.

Bridenstine wrote on Twitter:

We aren’t sure yet what Cruise will be doing in this historic adventure but he’s popular for doing increasingly impressive stunts in his recent films such as clutching the side of an Airbus A400 as it takes off in 2015’s Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation. It sounds about right that to bring his stunt to the next level, he needs to go into outer space.

NASA declined to provide more details. “We will say more about the project at the appropriate time,” a NASA spokesperson told The Verge. “Anything else would be premature.”

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk replied on Bridenstine’s tweet, “Should be a lot of fun!”
