When in Manila comes up with different stories daily. It could be about food, travel, fashion, beauty, showbiz, or just about anything we believe would interest our readers. A lot of times, the stories we post even come from our readers themselves!
May 2016 was a very eventful month for us. Our Facebook page finally reached two million likes! It was also a month of interesting stories, especially on traveling in the Philippines and Pinoy humor. Here’s a rundown of our most read stories for the month of May.
10.) WATCH: Explore the Beauty of “The Maldives of the Philippines” by Anj Rodriguez
Travel vlogger Christian LeBlanc captioned his viral video, “No, it’s not the Maldives, but it’s the next best thing. Manjuyod Sandbar in the Philippines is heaven on earth. Easily one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is about a 2 hour drive from Dumaguete and a 30 minute boat ride from the pier. One word: MEGA WOW.”
9.) Unbelievable Travel Destinations in Nueva Ecija You Never Knew Existed by Hannah Cepe
This was first posted last February 2016, but it was still one of the most read stories until May, and for a good reason! Hannah’s post is complete with many helpful details on prices, locations, and transportation. She also captured Nueva Ecija beautifully through her words and her photos. So far, her post has more than 89,000 shares!
8.) Sky High Bar: Chill Out with a 360-Degree View of the Metro by Krizel Malabanan
Krizel wrote, “As the name implies, Sky High Bar is located at the top floor of the 21-storey Ace Hotel & Suites in Kapitolyo, Pasig City. Overlooking Pasig, Mandaluyong, Makati, and Fort Bonifacio, Sky High Bar’s 360- degree rooftop view is just plain magnificent! There’s no questioning why Sky High Bar is in our list of top 10 bars and restaurants you can visit for a beautiful view of Metro Manila! The cool breeze and the shimmering lights of the city add to make a relaxing outdoor setting. Whether you’re on a date night or on a night out with your barkada, Sky High Bar is the perfect place for you, especially if you are one of those people who prefer al fresco over air conditioned dining.”
7.) WATCH: This is How You Find Filipinos Anywhere in the World, According to Mikey Bustos by Koji Arsua
Koji wrote, “One of the thrills of traveling is experiencing a new culture, a new language, and a new perspective. This is especially true if you’re going to a country you’ve never been to before. However, one of the things that can happen is getting lost. Whether you see it as an opportunity to go off the beaten track or a cause to panic, it is a common occurrence. One of the best ways to extract ourselves from our situation is to use a map, or to find a local who speaks English or a kababayan. If you’re old-fashioned (and Filipino), there’s a time-old way to find a fellow Pinoy, and singer and comedian Mikey Bustos knows how. He posted this video on Facebook and captioned it with: The test to find Filipinos. It never fails!”
6.) LOOK: Photo of Good-looking “JeepneyMan” in Tagaytay Has Gone Viral by Millie Manahan
Millie wrote, “Tagaytay is every Filipino’s go-to place to escape from reality. In fact, a Balikbayans’ stay wouldn’t be complete without swinging by Tagaytay and explore the famous spots like the Picnic Grove, People’s Park, Sky Ranch, and other awesome sceneries and places. Even so, the locals love dropping by as it has flourished from a humble tourist spot to an awesome food destination. Interestingly, apart from gastronomic experience and sightseeing, a Netizen spotted a good-looking jeepney driver on his way to Silang proper.”
